A Word From The Author

I was excited and full of hope…. I was going to have hip replacement surgery, the so called “wonder operation of the century”.
My life would now be different, no more pain, immobility and sleepless nights. I was told by family and friends that the surgery would change my life, all I can say is it changed my life drastically but not in the way I anticipated.
I contracted a superbug (Staphylococcus aureus bacterial infection) at some point in hospital, and when my symptoms of deep infection appeared post operatively my surgeon dismissed them and made a wrong diagnosis of Bursitis which he persisted with for 6 months.
I ended up with chronic Osteomyelitis, a girdlestone arthrodesis and permanent disability.
